Steps to Add the Custom Field to a Request

  1. Access the Custom Fields Configuration

    • Go to Jira Settings > Issues > Custom Fields.

    • Locate the custom field you want to add to the portal.

    • Click on the three-dot menu (⋮) next to the field and select Contexts and Default Value.

  2. Edit Custom Field Configuration

    • On the custom field configuration page, navigate to the JSM Config tab.

    •

    • Click the Add Multi-level Custom Field to Request button.

    •

  3. Select the Portal and Request

    • In the modal dialog that appears:

      • Choose the Portal from the dropdown menu.

      •

      • Select the specific Request Type you want to associate the field with.

    • Click Save to confirm.

  4. Add the Field to the Issue View

    • Go to the Project Configuration for the relevant project.

    • Navigate to Request Types and select the specific request you just updated.

    • Click on Issue View and add the custom field to the layout.Create Custom field

Limitations of Using the limitless Cascading Custom Field in Jira Service Management

Access Permissions:

  1. Request Creation:

    • Accessible by:

      • Licensed Users

      • Unlicensed Users

      • Anonymous Users

      • Customers

  2. Detailed View:

    • Accessible by:

      • Licensed Users

      • Unlicensed Users

      • Customers

    • Note: Anonymous users do not have access to the detailed view.

Usage Constraints:

  • Currently, users can incorporate only one limitless cascading custom field per request. Our team is actively working to enable the use of multiple limitless cascading custom fields in future releases.
